Ziggy Casawell, has been reported missing after failing to return home from a trip with Igny Geyser to Mt. Pura.
Ziggy, a well-regarded geologist, has been helping Igny study Mt. Pura during it's eruption, and has been reporting his findings to Strikaland's news outlets.
Ziggy and Igny embarked on an ordinary journey to the peak of Mt. Pura to collect data from the famous volcano around 9am this morning. After reaching the summit, Igny and Ziggy seperated briefly (or they planned to) to explore different parts of the volcano. Ziggy was assigned the south side, with Igny taking the north.
'We both took backpacks with all our gear, which includes science equipment, mountaineering equipment, food and first aid, and went out seperate ways, each exploring a different side of the volcano. We planned to both work our way around the east and meet each other at Ocelot Point around 10:30am this morning, a pretty routine assignment on smallish volcanoes like Mt. Pura. I arrived at 10:24, and waited for Ziggy. Only around 11am did I expect that maybe something had gone wrong, but I never expected him to be gone for as long as he has been now.'
'I'm certainly worried for Ziggs. Many things can happen on a volcano... I can only hope and pray that he is alright. Thankfully, he is quite well equipped with the tools and knowledge to keep himself alive in fairly hostile conditions. I just hope they can find him before it gets the better of him. It's a pretty dangerous place.'
Several rescue heliocopters have been sent out to search, basing their search the south and east of Mt. Pura, in Mt. Pura National Park and Ocelot National Park.
