MT. PURA "NOT DONE YET"

Only one whishy egg has been found in the area surrounding Mt. Pura after its eruption a few days ago, igniting fears that the other eggs we had seen floating in the lava before the eruption may never hatch.

Igny and I have been frantically searching for an opportunity the view the volcano. We would have preferred walk up on foot, but the volcano is just too dangerous and unpredictable at the moment. The constant, heavy, dark spiral of smoke faded today, however, enabling us a chance to fly over in a scientific helicopter (specifically designed for such situations) and take a look. The picture below shows you what we saw.

Based on the small samples of data Igny managed to collect from the helicopter, and the recent behaviour of the volcano, we believe that Mt. Pura is not done yet, and will more than likely erupt again in the near future - this time for real. The eruption a few days ago was probably just a tremor, preparing us for a coming larger eruption, in which (hopefully) the whishy eggs will be released into the world!

Search and Rescue teams have returned to their bases, but remain on high alert, ready to go out as soon as they can after the next eruption.
