Dorsy's XI and Natalie's XI met at the Strikaland International Sporting Complex for their
50-Over Match, the second match in their Exhibition Series. Natalie won the toss and elected to bat, and sent Lime and Tony (recently engaged) out to open the batting. Tony was off the mark straight away with two through the offside, and got off strike next ball. Lime showed good signs early too, pushing the ball into the gaps to rotate the strike. Tight bowling by Muddy and Lin restricted the openers to about 3 an over early, Lime in particular getting bogged down in the first 10 overs.
Tony was the first wicket to fall, LBW to Muddy for 10 in the 7th over. Natalie joined Lime at the crease, and immediately impressed, smashing three runs through the covers first ball, and then backing it up with a four and a single on her next balls in the next over. Lime could only manage singles, however, and battled hard, seeing Muddy and Lin off after their opening spells, and working through Knighto, a more than worthy first change, and Coral.
As the light faded, Dorsy brought her spinners into the attack: first Buster and then herself. Natalie only managed 2 runs off Buster's first over, and as it started to sprinkle, Dorsy began what would ultimately be the final over of the day. Lime looked solid in the rain, but on the 5th ball of the over, had a slash at a shortish and wide ball outside off. The edge carried comfortably to Natalie at first slip, who took the catch. At the change of batsman, the rain picked up and started pouring down.
Lightning struck closeby and the players were off for the remainder of the day, the light as though it were 8 o'clock at night. Natalie's XI walk off at 2/46 after 13.5 overs, with Natalie on 18*. They will certainly look to build a partnership tomorrow, and start piling the runs on from there. Dorsy's XI, on the other hand, will want Natalie early. For the full match scorecard, click here.
