Below, we've compiled some of the top driver's quotes from the weekend of racing. This weekend showcased some of the good, the bad and the ugly.
RACE 1
"Great start to the season. Cars fast, the guys have done a great job with it - got it just the way I like it. Now let's hope I can capitalise this afternoon." - Spine Streams, on qualifying on pole for Race 1 of the WRS.
"Yeeeeeeeew! Never been more happy in my life! And that's a statement, hahaha!! (Hugs crew, jumps up and down). Oh, just wanna thank my crew for a great car; thrilled to be on the top step of the podium! Ready to do it again tomorrow! " - Bumper Tyson, winner of Race 1.
"Yeah, thanks mate. Solid race; happy with that. Car felt good, definitely a good way to start the season. Just nudged out Marshy at the end there; was a really good battle and I thought she was gonna get me, full-throttle drag-racing down the straight. Good stuff, haha" - Sherbet Candice, second in Race 1.
"Want to thank my team for a great car adn their encouraging words throughout. A podium on debut is unbelievable, barely dreamed it. Thanks dad (Maxie) for those countless hours of training; they seem to be paying off, hey!" - Marshy Archer, third in Race 1.
"So proud of Marsh! Podium on debut! Just wanna squeeze her! ("Ahh, no... that'll be alright dad" Marshy laughs, taking a step away.) All that hard work you put in over the years is paying off! Keep it up, darling!" - Maxie Archer, proud of his daughter Marshy, finsihing 3rd on debut.
"I'm fine, man. (On his physical condition). Just so gutted for the team, man. Just wanted to get a place for 'em so bad - they worked their butts off getting my car just right and I do that. Just gutted, man. A big sorry and a long night is in order." - Tigar Angus, gutted after crashing in Race 1.
"For goodness sake, mate. Pitlane's completely full and he comes out as if I'm invisible. Open your eyes, mate. There's other cars out on the track." - Bubbles Paste, furious after Sketcher ran into him in pit lane, causing steering problems that spoiled Bubbles' race.
RACE 2
"Absolutely stoked. New lap record: Needles... haha. But it's all thanks to these guys, you know. Picking ourselves up after the unfortunate incident yesterday, and moving on to today with a mighty fast car. Now, I've got a race to win." - Needles Sharpe, on qualifying on pole for Race 2 of the WRS.
"For once, this win wasn't all my owndoing, I'll admit, but I'll take it anyway! I wanna thank Needles and Aurora for getting into that little argument like that - I owe you one! Yeah, I drove well but my team did everything they needed to do as well, so couldn't (probably) do it without them! Haha!" - Wishy Casawell, winner of Race 2.
"Yeah, good car, good result. Hopefully I can consistently stay up here, and keep that Archer name bruning bright into whishy motorsport folklore, haha. Was a good race; I like these longer ones. " - Maxie Archer, second in Race 2.
"Absolutely gutted. I'll take third anyday but goodness, I don't know if I've seen such a crazy call. It was a general racing incident, for Pete's sake. It happens. Aurora and I have no hard feelings towards each other - we both see that sometimes cars get tangled up in motorsport. Those guys up there making those decisions really need to have a good look at themselves, and let common sense prevail. Stupid." - Needles Sharpe, third in Race 2. Referring to incident with Aurora that cost him the win, after Race Control penalised him with a controversial drive-through penalty.
"Don't agree with the call, no. Was just a racing incident. I knew Needles was there, but thought I'd make it around the corner ahead. My fault, really, but it happens in motorsport There's no way Needles deserved that penalty. Just two guys racing hard, and it happened to end up with one facing the wrong way. Just misfortune, really. Needles and I have talked, and agree that the wrong call was made but hold no grudges against each other." - Aurora Tyson, referring to contact resulted in a drive-through penalty that ended Needles winning chances.
"So angry with myself, man. That's twice now, dude. This team's worked so hard, before this week and then overnight after yesterday, man, and then 'bang,' I put it in the fence again. Didn'tlearn from my mistake yesterday. Trying so hard to get up the front, got to hard on the kerb and it propelled me across the track. So gutted again, man." - Tigar Angus, referring to his crash in the same place as Race 1, that ended his race once more.
"Another good result and I'm happy to be in the lead. Gotta give credit to my crew for such a good car andd a great strategy in both races. Gutted for Aurora, but I know my baby will be back and stronger than ever!" - Bumper Tyson, leader of the Whishy Racing Series after the event.
"I'm shocked more than anything. Was going pretty well, racing Marsh down the back straightaway, and next thing I'm on my roof looking at the fence. Physically fine, although my right fin hurts and I'm very sore in the midrift. Just shocked more than anything. Didn't see her there; she sorta hit a blind spot, and yeah, all of a sudden I'm in the spin cycle." - Dorsy Casawell, referring to her terrifying crash that brought out the red flag.
