Sadly, I must announce my retirement from the Whishy Racing Series. Although I greatly enjoyed my time on the track, and appreciated the opportunity I was given this year, I have decided it's the right time to hang up the keys and focus more on my other endeavours, such as cooking, my kids and cricket. I still intend to compete in upcoming Monster Jam events, however.
I feel I am unable to make such a committment this year (to be racing every week) with everything going on, and feel it would actually be more beneficial to the series if they signed a new, fast young gun. I'll admit, I'm past my peak. I'll forever cherish the victory I got back in 2012, and all the time I've spent on the track.
I want to thank everyone who's ever worked with me in my crew, preparing the car each week and preparing me mentally. Without you guys, there's no way I could have done what I've done and had the fun that I've had. I want to thank everyone behind the scenes who works to put on these events. You're work is invaluable and doesn't go unnoticed. Lastly, I want to thank all my fans who come to see me race. I'm sorry if I've disappointed any of you, but I think this is for the best anyhow.
Now, to announce the driver the Crackler Racing Team have signed to replace me! He's quick, let me tell you. Don't underestimate him on the track. He's very aggressive, but measured at the same time. He's fit, too - I'm sure his frequent Rugby League work gives him an advantage there. The driver who will replace me in the Crackler entry, starting from next week's event at Sandy Hills in Worthsley, will be... HUNTY MARS!
Good luck Hunty! Race hard and do us proud!
