AYLA'S WHISHY OF THE MATCH PERFORMANCE HELPS DORSY'S XI ACROSS THE LINE

Berry and Finnie walked out to the middle of Star Sensations Stadium confidently for the start of Day 7, their overnight score 0/32 from 10 overs. Their task, in numbers, was simple. With bowlers like Wishy and Kayn steaming in from the other end, however, a further 98 runs may not be the easiest, even if they did have 10 wickets in the dressing room.

Together, Berry and Finnie started wisely, knocking the ball into gaps for 4 off the first over. Kayn and Wishy tightened the flow up from both ends. Eventually, Berry couldn't resist any longer and flayed at a full length ball outside off bowled by Kayn. The edge carried comfortably to Natalie at second slip, who accepted the opportunity with open hands (which eventually closed around the ball). 1/37 after 14 overs.

Cheese came in at 3 and played with elegance, but restrictive bowling bogged Finnie, and like Berry, she played unnecessarily at one outside off, and knicked off to Lime at first slip. 2/54 after 20 overs with openers back in the sheds - Kayn with both wickets.

Ayla joined Cheese at the crease and the pair responsible for the largest partnership of the match were back together and sent alarm bells ringing to the opposition, cracking boundaries and keeping the score ticking at a good rate. Much to Natalie's XI's relief, Cheese smacked a ball straight to Kayn at short cover, and was on her bike for 19, but most of the damage had been done, with Dorsy's XI requiring only 33 more runs for victory, and Ayla still at the crease and in the form of her career.

To make it worse for Natalie's XI, Dorsy, the captain of her side and the 5th highest run scorer of all-time, came to the crease at 5 to attempt to steer her side home to victory. Both batsman turned the strike over quickly, and only 6 overs after Dorsy strode out to the wicket, the pair had put on 32 runs and required only a run to win. On 44, Ayla decided nothing but a six would do, so when Natalie dropped one in slightly short, she was quick to sway back and crunch the ball way over the midwicket boundary for the match-winning six! She finished the match with 50 runs from just 47 balls. Dorsy cracked 3 beautiful fours on her way to 16 off 21 not out. Dorsy's XI chased down their target of 130 in 36.1 overs, losing only 3 wickets.

Ayla was awarded Whishy of the Match for 108 and 50*. For the full scorecard, click here.
