Igny Geyser, Guppy Casawell and I have been observing and analysing Mt. Pura profusely over the last week, since Igny first became suspicious of a possible eruption soon.
The area surrounding Mt. Pura was particularly daunting this morning. Several geysers were in action last night and early this morning, emitting hot gases and liquids into the air. What remained when we explored the region were small clufts of dried purplish goo. It was soft and flaky, and rather easy to break upon touch.
Interestingly enough, the only other instance a substance of this nature has been described, was back in July of 2013, when Mt. Pura last erupted. Back then, the goo was red. Mt. Pura blew almost 50 whishy eggs to the surface back then; does that mean...? We don't know for sure yet, but Igny and I are working hard to find out!
The substance was strewn across the ground throughout the chain of geysers. We believe it to be a direct result of the geysers, which must have spewed the substance out overnight. The substance was more than likely a thick liquid when it was first blown out of the geyser. To find out more, Igny and I will be camping out there overnight. Don't worry; Igny is a trained professional and knows what is safe, where it is safe, and when it is safe. I should have more facts for you tomorrow!
