Carrot (59 not out) and Kayn (0 not out) walked out to the middle of Strikaland International Sports Complex to start Day 6 of the Exhibition Match between Natalie's XI and Dorsy's XI. Carrot took strike, and facing Muddy, made her intentions straight, smacking him through covers off the front front, and then the back foot. She played out the rest of the over and Natalie's XI were underway on their quest to build their lead.
Kayn only lasted a handful of overs, adding only 8 runs to his score before succumbing to a good length ball slightly outside off stump and moving away, caught by Angel, the 'keeper, off the bowling of Knighto. 6/249. Carrot played briskly, but her innings was also quickly brought to an end by Knighto; a 143kph ball crashing into middle. 7/260
5 overs later, the score on 7/270, Tulip flashed at a rising ball bowled outside off by Lin, and knicked off to Dorsy, standing at first slip. Lin then picked up his fourth wicket: Wishy, bowled for 18, and Muddy closed the innings 2 balls later, bowling Spine to pick up his fourth also. In a session of 20.1 overs, Natalie's XI lost 5 wickets for just 61 runs. From the point at which the first wicket fell, they lost 5 for 36. Lin picked up 4/65 (23 overs), and Muddy claimed another 4 (for 79 runs off 27.1 overs) wickets to take his match tally to 9.
Berry and Finnie opened the batting as per usual, with the task of surviving the 10 overs left in the day to provide Dorsy's XI with a good start in their chase of 130. Wishy opened the bowling, and clocked speeds of 149kph, but failed to get the wicket as Berry and Finnie dug in. Kayn at the other end also bowled tight lines, but the openers were set on keeping their wicket, and then capitalised in the late overs in the day, picking off a handful of twos and a couple of threes. The score at the end of a dominant Dorsy's XI day: 0/32 after 10 overs. Dorsy's XI require a further 98 runs with all 10 wickets in hand. Natalie's XI will need an inspirational performance by its bowlers if they have any hope and snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
