Natalie and Dorsy have played out an even Day 1 in the 1st Exhibition Fixture between Natalie's XI and Dorsy's XI. The match is a friendly, but a excellent opportunity for the whishies to find some form before the 2015/16 Summer of Cricket.
Natalie won the toss at the centre of Star Sensations Stadium in Lankinshire, and looking upon a relatively flat wicket with tinges of grass popping up throughout, decided to have a bat. 10 minutes later, she entered the field of play with Lime to a defeaning cheer from the crowd of 48,000. Dorsy's XI followed, suited up in their bright blue and orange kit.
To the surprise of most, Lin took the new cherry from the Park End. Natalie, the all-time highest Strikaland Cricket first-class run scorer, took strike and defended the first ball of the test. She played out a maiden as the crowd settled in to their seats, topped up on KFC ready for an exciting day of cricket.
Lime and Natalie enjoyed a peaceful start to the innings, with Lime hitting two boundaries and finding her feet in the middle. Natalie couldn't counter the tight lines of Lin and Muddy, and only managed a dodgy 13 off 43 balls before Knighto pitched one up of middle, and cut it away from Natalie to cannon into her off stump. Marshy made her way to the crease in the 13th over with her side 1/30.
Her stay at the crease would be cut short, however, trapped plumb in front of the wickets from one of the Dorsy's sharply turning offbreaks for just 10. Carrot was next in and steadied the ship with Lime, putting on 40 together. Coral got the breakthrough with a wide one that Carrot couldn't resist. Carrot swang hard, but only managed a thick edge with Ayla caught above her head at 2nd slip. Natalie's XI were 3/93 after 30 overs: fairly even contest but they couldn't afford lose any quick wickets.
Klutzy came in at 5 and looked positive from the get-go, slapping a tame ball outside off through the covers for a boundary. Two balls later, he was at it again, this time going square with the cut for four more. In only 32 balls, Klutzy compiled a confident 34 runs with 7 fours. He was forced to walk back to the pavilion when Muddy finally cleaned him up; the score on 4/129 after 36 overs.
Soon after, with Galaxy at the crease, Lime brought up her hard-earned 50 off 102 balls with a single through wide mid on. She wouldn't get much further, though, dismissed on 57, LBW from the bowling Muddy. Late in the day, Muddy picked up his 3rd, when Galaxy 2 chipped the ball to Berry at short leg for a brisk 21. Natalie then sent in Kayn as her nightwatchman, and he successfully saw through the rest of the day with Tulip.
Natalie's XI finished Day 1 on 6/176 after 46 overs. To view the scorecard, click here.
